Midgard Heroes: Greenleaf College

Midgard Heroes: Greenleaf College

The Greenleaf College was founded by elfmarked who sought to record their varied heritage. Drawing from elven lore and power, Greenleaf bards strengthen their connection to nature. Through their magic and their tales, they convey the rejuvenating strength of the forests and rivers to their allies.

[From the Midgard Heroes Handbook…]

GREENLEAF COLLEGE (BARD)

When you join the Greenleaf College at 3rd level, you gain access to an expanded list of bard spells. The following spells are added to the bard spell list for you.

Spell Level Spells

1st entangle, goodberry
2nd pass without trace, spike growth
3rd conjure animals, daylight
4th conjure woodland beings, dominate beast
5th commune with nature, tree stride

REJUVENATING INSPIRATION

Also at 3rd level, you learn to infuse your Bardic Inspiration with a magical seed of healing energy. When a creature uses a Bardic Inspiration die from you to increase one ability check, attack roll, or saving throw, it also gains temporary hit points equal to the number rolled on the Bardic Inspiration die plus your Charisma modifier.

LAND’S STRIDE

At 6th level, moving through nonmagical difficult terrain costs you no extra movement. You can also pass through nonmagical plants without being slowed by them and without taking damage from them if they have thorns, spines, or a similar hazard. In addition, you have advantage on saving throws against plants that are magically created or manipulated to impede movement, such as those created by the entangle spell.

VITAL SURGE

Starting at 14th level, as an action you can expend one use of Bardic Inspiration to magically remove one disease or detrimental condition affecting a creature you can see within 60 feet. The condition can be blinded, charmed, deafened, frightened, paralyzed, or poisoned.

But this is where we must stop for now, my friend. My mind, it wanders so at times. Do come see me again, though, for more of the wonders and surprises of Midgard. (OGL)

  1. I hope that’s not everything. Why are your guy’s subclasses so sparse in features? Note how your regular counterpart (wotc) has like two level 3 features for nearly every subclass for every class that gets features at level 3 post-phb. Every xanathar bard subclass has two level 3 features. Glamor bard, whom forgoes the bonus die roll, can instead use the inspiration to give ALL allies temp hp, and they get another feature to go along with it. It seems like you guys are erroring on the side of caution and I’m finding it annoying.

level 3: the feature itself is ok, but without a 2nd feature it’s very lacking and wanting.

level 6: meh, copy/paste really? you could have done better, but it’s not awful, however depending on the DM it could come up very little.

Level 14: HOT GARBAGE. This suffers from the exact same problem that the 4 elements monk does, and thats having more uses for your resource. You may think that’s a good thing but your inspirations are few and precious. This actually should have been tacked onto the 3rd level feature and it would have been better, but making this it’s own thing… and at 14th level? Hot flaming dumpster fire.

4/10 the artwork gets you a few points, reminds me of a 80s rocker chick like pat benatar and she was cute/hot. I can do better than this subclass with the same theme.

But what credentials do I have? I may not be some professional writer but I been playing D&D since 1999 at the very end of 2nd edition and then really cut my teeth on 3rd and up and have made plenty of homebrew content for my campaigns, a class, prestige classes (3e), magic items, races, etc. over the past dang near 20 years, and i’m only in my 30s now, I been playing since I was barely a teen. Obviously my early stuff was way OP looking back at it, but I have had much more experience since then and have made much more progress.

I might actually take a crack at this, and if I do I’ll be sure to put a post up about it on one of your future subclass reveals. I been looking at the last few you guys put out and I keep being disappointed.

    1. Replying to my own post since you can’t edit apparently, I just realized the spell addition was feature, makes me look like an ass, however I am still not impressed and will still take a crack at it.
