Straight from the Editorial Director’s snout, the Dispatch provides a sneak peek at upcoming publications and projects headed from the warrens to gaming tables everywhere, so you’ll know what to watch out for.
Well, we just passed Labor Day here in the warrens, which means fall is just around the corner. For some, leaves will start turning, while for others (like me), flipping the calendar page indicates temperatures will soon start dropping back into “reasonable” range rather than “blast furnace.” With fall comes football season and, at least for this year, Gen Con. And as predicted, we kobolds are eyeballs-deep in getting ready for the big show. If you’re going to attend, we’re in Booth 1537, so be sure to drop by and say hello.
With that said, let’s take a look at all the wonderful goodness we’ve been up to the last couple of months.
Of course, the big news right now is our current Kickstarter for Tome of Heroes. This book of character options includes lots of subraces and subclasses, nifty equipment, weapon options, magic subsystems, and much more. The reception so far has been very positive with over 5,100 backers pledging nearly $300k as of this writing to make it happen. It’s almost finished though, so don’t dawdle. After that, we’ve got a tasty new book planned that I can’t say much about yet, but be on the lookout for something a bit… darker.
In the meantime, our warehouse has been busy getting fresh, new products (as well as a few reprints that are back in stock) out the doors. The Scarlet Citadel book, Map Folio, and VTT versions are available, while Deep Magic Spell Cards should hit the streets later this fall. Vault of Magic is wrapping up at the printers’, and we are still watching the horizon for the arrival of all things Southlands. We are told it will be very soon…
So many people inquired about getting a hold of the great set of Encounter Tables from the newly updated Midgard Woldbook that we decided to make them available as a separate item.
We live in a digital world, which means there are a lot of ways to enjoy the fruits of Kobold labors online. If you are into watching people talk about and play some of our cool material, check out our Twitch channel, where there is a weekly chat with wonderful guests (Wednesdays at noon PT), plus a pair of ongoing Actual Plays—”Marauders of the Middle Sea” (Wednesdays at 3:00 pm PT) and “Into the Southlands” (Sundays at 1:00 pm PT).
Or if you’re more into breaking out your own digital game (or are just looking for some conversation or advice), the Midgard Adventures Discord server is a great place to check out.
For our Patreon supporters, we continue to keep the goodies coming. Warlock 27: Southlands is a great companion piece to the upcoming collection of Southlands books. On the adventure side of things, Warlock Lair 62: The Food that Food Eats puts the characters on a path to aiding a lost bearfolk in a forest of dangers while Warlock Lair 63: Edge of the Abyss brings the PCs face to face with an undersea menace near the ruins of Ankeshel!
And that about wraps it up for now. If we don’t see you at Gen Con, we’ll be right back here with more cool news, updates, and surprises—along with a handful of ghost stories—to share.
‘Til next time!
Last I heard, the Southlands 5e book was out in September, is there any more specific information to share?
