Jirotown: Cities & Towns Pre-orders Open!

Campaign Builder: Cities & Towns is now available for pre-order!

To celebrate, we took to Twitter and continued our creation of the crossroads settlement, Jirotown! A few months ago, the community on Twitter got together and helped create a town based on the Campaign Builder Cities & Towns character sheet. Jirotown was born.

This time around, we created a notable NPC named Strong Guts, and a new district—or should we say side street?

Just off the main market road is a cobbled alley with stone gutters and iron sewer grates. Second and third story balconies serve as a leaky roof, keeping the narrow street in shade. A crooked sign with the picture of an anvil and hammer painted on its wooden arrow points into the alley’s shadows. But once past the initial shuttered household windows, the lane widens to a cheerfully decorated courtyard with a covered well in its center.

A smithy takes up a large portion of the cul-de-sac, while a wattle and daub brewery takes up another third of it. A chandler and soaper’s workshop share a space, while a carpenter fills in the rest of the available lot. From one street over, the tantalizing aroma of Toothless the Baker’s shop wafts through the scent of freshly cut wood and brewer’s yeast of Crafter’s Way.

The courtyard is full of flowered window boxes and wooden benches, courtesy of Maisy Lionwood, the chandler. She takes pride in her crafter community here in Jirotown, and who doesn’t enjoy a flurry of color in their midst?

Painted on a blue hanging sign over the brewery’s wide doorway is the bust of a kobold with a fiddle. Strong Guts is the brewer at The Kobold and the Fiddle. He’s been a citizen of Jirotown since Mayor-Extraordinaire Jiro took the reins of the settlement.

Strong Guts is of middling years, though he often complains of being older than he really is. Despite his newly creaky bones, he makes fine beer from the barley and wheat grown in the area. His specialty is brown ale, and kegs of the amber liquid are carted off to the city for some of the finest inns and drinking establishments.

Strong Guts is in direct competition with the current president of the Brewer’s Bureau, Malty Marco of Kobold Claw Brewery. The tension has not yet reached boiling point but it is simmering away. It doesn’t help that they are they only two members in the guild.
