Victrolis is not tall by any standard, and she is reed thin. Her high cheekbones are framed by long nut-brown hair she keeps coiled about her head in an elaborate series of braids. Her eyes are dark, almost hollow, but not unkind, and her sun-freckled face frequently breaks into an easy smile displaying the small gap in her front teeth.
Songs of Wind and Leaf. Victrolis’s minstrel father taught her the ways of the forest and how to play every song he knew as he peddled joy between the small Arbonesse villages. He called her his forest pixie, and they were happy, so she never asked why his eyes turned sad sometimes. As he got older, he traveled less and eventually settled in one of the villages on the eastern edge of the Arbonesse.
Tower of Riches and Grief. When Victrolis visited her father for the last time, passing through his hometown on her own travels, a minstrel in her own right, he told her about his brother. He talked for hours, delivering a tale he swore was true. He told Victrolis of the adventures he and his brother had in their youth. How they delved deeply into dark parts of the ancient forest, eventually finding an elven tower made of crystal and mithral. He spoke in exquisite detail of the things they saw in that tower, and he described being chased from it by a keening spirit. Victrolis felt her father’s heartbreak at the discovery that his brother was no longer with him and that despite long searches he never again found the tower. After putting him to rest a few days later, Victrolis set into the forest to find the tower, her uncle, and whatever new friends and adventures come her way.
