d12. Curiosity

  1. The chorus of voices raised in song that greets you is in a language that—for a second—is unknown to you but that you suddenly understand moments later.
  2. Each scroll in the rack pings out a specific musical note when it is picked up.
  3. The alcove where two students are practicing silences their music outside the alcove, but you can see what the music is describing on a blank canvas behind them. The scene depicted teases at your memory.
  4. You hear the music being played in this small conservatory off the library in your mind. It haunts you for 1d8 weeks after you hear it.
  5. A stand with musical notation scrawled on paper upon it turns pages for you.
  6. The collection of stringed instruments on the wall tune themselves each morning.
  7. A person playing a fife sends colorful visual notes into the air. When they hit something, they pop like soap bubbles and release their note.
  8. This dark and gloomy corner of the room contains wall hangings that depict gods of death and destruction. A faint dirge coming from nowhere detectable causes the skeleton in the corner to dance and clatter.
  9. This sun-dappled area of the library contains prisms galore! As the sun moves across the prisms, the notes they softly hum change. It seems to be a sort of colorful musical clock!
  10. A statue to a well-known bard has eyes that follow you wherever you go. You can never rid yourself of the sense of being stared at for your duration in this library.
  11. Someone’s crumpled attempt at a piece for four wind instruments has blood spattered upon it. The name of the piece: “Calling Upon the Four Winds” Under those words, in very small and spidery print: “…to Destroy the One I Hate Most.”
  12. This musical library has pixies watching you from every nook and cranny. They look happy, though they all carry sharp weapons, which they play with as you wander the area.
