Buffalo Bond (Ex): At 4th level, you form a bond with your hunting companions (usually other buffalo runners). This bond allows you to spend a move action to grant half your favored prey bonus against 2d8 targets of the appropriate type to all allies within 30 ft. who can see or hear you. This bonus lasts for a number of rounds equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum 1). This bonus does not stack with any favored enemy or favored prey bonuses possessed by allies; they use whichever bonus is higher…
In addition, your knowledge of buffalo is so detailed that your favored prey bonus doubles when it applies to buffalo (and only buffalo). This ability replaces hunter’s bond.
Buffalo Caller (Sp): At 16th level, you retire from actively leading buffalo to jumps and become a buffalo caller. A buffalo caller can perform a ceremony that draws buffalo close to a camp, allowing buffalo runners to encounter the herd and lure it to the buffalo jump. The ceremony lasts 1d4 hours and consists of prayers, songs, and offerings. The chance of luring buffalo in with the ceremony is 50% plus your Charisma (thus, a buffalo runner with a Charisma of 15 has a 65% chance of success). The chance for success should be rolled in secret by the GM. If successful, 3d20 buffalo appear within a mile or so of the camp in 2d20 hours. The buffalo caller ceremony can be performed once per week. This ability replaces improved evasion.
Buffalo Caller’s Headdress
Aura moderate conjuration; CL 7th
Slot head; Price 15,120 gp; Weight 5 lb.
This headdress is a leather bonnet covered with shaggy buffalo fur and a pair of buffalo horns on either side. Usually, one or more white ermine skins or strips of otter fur dangle from either side, framing the wearer’s face. When wearing the buffalo caller’s headdress, the wearer can perform a buffalo calling ceremony with a chance of success equal to 20% plus the wearer’s Charisma (thus, a wearer with a Charisma of 14 has a 34% chance of success). If the wearer is a buffalo runner of at least 16th level, add 20% to the chance of success in performing a buffalo calling ceremony. If successful, 4d20 buffalo appear within a mile or so of the camp in 1d10 hours. Otherwise, the effects are as described in the buffalo caller ability. The headdress can be used once per week.
