The Many Spirits of the Shaman: Archetypes for the Shaman Class (Part 2)

Norsemen landing in Iceland, by Oscar Wergeland (1909).

Plant Shaman

The plant shaman is a solitary, strange figure gifted with unusual powers linked to the vegetable world.

Bonus Spells: In addition to the spells learned as the plant shaman gains levels, he or she also learns extra bonus spells. These spells are added as soon as the plant shaman is capable of casting them and cannot be exchanged for different spells at higher levels. Additional bonus spells: greensight (2nd), forest friend (4th), plant growth (6th), arboreal hammer (8th), wall of thorns (10th), transport via plants (12th), changestaff (14th), control plants (16th), wooden phalanx (18th).

Plant Spirit Guide (Su): The plant shaman’s spirit guide takes the form of a plant creature. Some alternative spirit guides follow:

Carnivorous Flower
Small; Speed 30 ft., climb 10 ft.; AC +2 natural armor; Attack bite (1d6); Str 10, Dex 17, Con 15, Int 12, Wis 12, Cha 10; SQ low-light vision, scent.
Totem Spell Granted: detect animals or plants.

Crawling Vine

Totem Spell Granted: entangle.

Puffball

Sapling Treant

Totem Spell Granted: barkskin.

Reduced Wild Empathy (Ex): The plant shaman adds 1/2 his or her shaman level (minimum 1) plus the shaman’s Charisma bonus to a Diplomacy check made when attempting to improve the attitude of animals.

Speak with Elements (Ex): The plant shaman can cast speak with plants at will.

Vegetable Healing (Su): At 5th level, when the plant shaman casts a spell related to plants, he or she can choose a single ally within 30 feet that he or she can see. That ally regains a number of hit points equal to the level of the spell cast and gains a +1 morale bonus to attack rolls until the end of its next turn.

Wild Shape (Su): A plant shaman cannot use wild shape to adopt an animal or elemental form. Instead, when the shaman gains this ability at 4th level, he or she can assume the form of a Large living or dead tree or shrub, as tree shape. At 8th level, he or she can assume the form of a Small or Medium plant creature, as plant shape I. At 10th level, a plant shaman can assume the form of a Large plant creature, as plant shape II. At 12th level, the shaman can assume the form of a Huge plant creature, as plant shape III. This ability replaces, and otherwise functions like, the normal shaman wild shape ability.

Keep it up Margherita – definitely a nice option for shamans. Love those alternative spirit guides too!

A question: does Vegetable Healing affect any ally or only plant allies? As written it seems to affect any ally.
