While it is still a few months before you may start experiencing RiverBank for yourself, life there is already just as busy as busy! You can’t see the bustle on this map of the River Bank and its Environs, but it is happening, nonetheless!

The King’s Official Birthday is coming up on the Fifth of June, and the Animals of the River Bank are eager to honor him—even if he never hears about it. Mrs Celestine Gray, that Pigeon of great dignity, and her officious Goose friend, Mrs Porlock, have decided to host a public concert that evening.
Several Animals have volunteered to recite monologues from Shakespeare or sing popular songs, and the accomplished Fox, Miss Dana St Andrews, says she will perform a technically difficult solo upon the violin—though everyone is hoping that afterward she will agree to play dance tunes for an impromptu “hop,” with punch and ices served.

Most excitingly, the ancient Newt, Old Pook, has been convinced to recite, “Th’Auld Den,” written by that famous Victorian Rabbit, Sir Timmer Fogbellow. Since he has a tendency to make up saucy lines whenever he forgets the real ones, it promises to be a night to remember; in fact, it may still be a topic of conversation when you arrive on the River Bank. Cross your toes that it doesn’t rain!
