Straight from the Editorial Director’s snout, the Dispatch provides a sneak peek at upcoming publications and projects headed from the warrens to gaming tables everywhere, so you’ll know what to watch out for.
One of the big advantages that comes from serving as the Editorial Director for Kobold Press is the bird’s-eye view I get of all the kobolds scurrying about, hard at work on a plethora of piñatas designs. Every new construction project within the warrens, at each stage of progress, stands revealed before me. It’s almost enough to make a kobold drunk with power. Of course, with great power comes a great desire to share the forbidden, because what fun is it to know things if you don’t let others in on the secrets?
With that in mind, here are a few sneak peeks of upcoming titles and other activities…
The biggest excitement at the moment is, of course, our Kickstarter project for the Vault of Magic. This book, chock full of magic items of every kind—from the twisted minds of both our regular design team and a host of notable guest designers—is going to be a must-have tome at every gaming table. As of this writing, Vault of Magic has already funded and is closing in on 5,000 backers and $300K pledged. We are so thrilled our fans continue to support our efforts at such astonishing levels!

You’ll definitely want to get on that updates list right away too, because the word in the warrens is there’s a very special new project about to be unveiled. I can’t let the cat completely out of the bag yet (nothing makes a kobold laugh harder than a cat trying to get out of a bag), but it’s going to be big. More on this very soon.
If you’ve backed some of our previous Kickstarters and are wondering what the latest is on those efforts, fear not! I’ve got you covered. I am even now applying the finishing touches to our press files for our nifty classic-style dungeon adventure, The Scarlet Citadel, so it can go to the printer sometime this week. Its companion product, the Map Folio, is already there. For you Southlands enthusiasts, the Southlands Worldbook is in layout, and the Player’s Guide is following closely behind. Let me tell you, the poster map for this is going to be gorgeous. City of Cats is already on press, and Tales Beneath the Sands is getting its final editing tweaks. So things are moving apace.
We are also stoked that our Patreon membership has been doing so well. If you aren’t in on this kobold-sized but awesome part of our publishing empire, why not? Sign up to become a patron and get access to scads of great content!
What kinds of content, you ask? Well, let me tell you. The latest issue of the zine, Warlock 24: Weird Fantasy—containing weird magic items, a very strange springtime, and many tables of inspiration—is now available. Plus, there’s Warlock Lair 56: The Glowing Ossuary and its sequel Warlock Lair 57: Heart of the Damned, an undead-infested dungeon for 5th-level characters.
If that’s not enough to whet your appetite, how about the first installment of a new series called Delver’s Guide: Hanging Gardens, which provides a detailed look at ways to flesh out a subterranean locale with environmental, floral, and faunal obstacles? Or maybe you can get on board with the latest examination of the various denizens of the multiverse of Midgard in Planars: The Grey Reach. Both of these features, from our very own Warlock editor, Scott Gable, are available now. Check ‘em out!
As you can see, there’s a lot going on, so I’ve got to get back to it. But I’ll be back next month from my high perch with another rundown of the latest news and big reveals for you.
‘Til next time!
