Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. Put it in your game!

The 2024 movie, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, is a prequel to the 2015 film, Mad Max: Fury Road. The film takes place in a post-apocalyptic dystopian future where the hero, Furiosa, is kidnapped from her home and finds herself in conflict with the war lords of the wastelands. There are things that make for wondrous magic items when used in your Tales of the Valiant game.

This article contains spoilers. Some items and aspects of the movie are revealed here. Very cool items and aspects.

Elemental Dart Launcher

Furiosa’s mother wields an arm mounted slingshot. The shot is launched through a metal ring. You could recreate a nonmagical version of this for your game by reskinning a sling. But you can also upgrade it to be a wrist-mounted magic weapon.

ELEMENTAL DART LAUNCHER

Wondrous item, Uncommon 750 gp

The launcher mounts on your wrist and looks like a sling attached to a glowing metal ring. It fires small stones or sling bullets through the ring which then magically changes the stone into an elemental projectile with a range of 40/80 ft., On a successful ranged weapon attack, the launcher deals 1d6 fire, cold, acid, or lightning damage. You must declare the damage type before you fire.

Chariot of Spirits

Dr. Dementus drives a chariot drawn by three motorcycles. Now, motorcycles don’t generally have a place in fantasy games. But if you change “motorcycles” to “spirits,” then a chariot fits in just fine! The chariot of spirits is drawn by a variation of the spirit guardians spell.

CHARIOT OF SPIRITS

Wondrous item, Very Rare      50,000 gp

This chariot is made of iron and decorated in gold and silver. As an action, you speak the command word and summon three spirit creatures that appear in a form of your choice resembling a land creature such as horses, oxen, or goats. The chariot can carry up to 1000 pounds and has a speed of 50 ft. You steer the chariot mentally and driving it does not require an action. The spirits remain for 4 hours and can’t be summoned again until you finish a long rest.

Skull Helmet

Many characters in Furiosa wear helmets made of the skulls of strange creatures. For a Tales of the Valiant game, try making one of those strange creatures a recognizable monster such as a hippogriff or a manticore.

SKULL HELMET

Wondrous item, Rare  (Requires Attunement)           2,000 gp

Hippogriff. When worn, the hippogriff helmet grants +1 to AC. In addition, you can cast the fly spell once until you finish a long rest.

Manticore. The manticore helmet is decorated with six manticore tail spikes jutting out from the crown. When worn, it grants +1 to AC. As a bonus action, you can fire a spike at a target within 60 feet using your ranged weapon attack modifier. A spike deals 1d8 piercing damage plus 2d4 poison damage. The spikes do not recharge.

Minotaur. The minotaur helmet features broad, sharpened horns. When worn, it grants +1 to AC. In addition, you can choose to become reckless until the start of your next turn. While reckless, you have advantage on all melee weapon attacks it makes, but attack rolls against you have advantage.

Ram Sail

In one scene, the characters use a sort of parasail drawn by motorcycles to attack from the air. As a magic item in a fantasy game a character could ride this item drawn by a magical spirit resembling a giant charging ram.

RAM SAIL

Wondrous item, Rare  15,000 gp

This leather harness fits a small or medium Humanoid, and it is tied to a crystal figure of a ram. As a bonus action, you can activate the figure which becomes a Large ram spirit (use giant goat stats from the Monster Vault). The ram spirit can’t attack, but when it moves at least 20 feet in a straight line, you gain a flying speed of 40 feet. You are tied to the ram by a 60-foot long line. You steer the ram mentally and directing it does not require an action. The effect ends after 1 hour and can’t be used again until you finish a long rest.

Homeward Tattoo

Furiosa has a tattoo on her forearm of a constellation that lets her find her way home. The fantastic version of this is a magical tattoo that aids in navigation.

HOMEWARD TATTOO

Wondrous item, Very Rare     30,000 gp

Produced by a special needle, this tattoo softly glows with a constellation that represents your astrological sign. If you activate the tattoo as an action before you sleep during a long rest, you awaken with clear knowledge of how to return to your home (as you define it) as though under the effects of a find the path spell.
