Wrath of the River King is heading into final draft form, and heading to the editor soon. I have to say that, like with any new edition of D&D, the learning curve has been interesting; things that look good in theory haven’t always panned out in playtest.
But fortunately, a lot of playtesters and patron eyeballs have given the adventure a critique, and we’re seeing a stronger result. Also, forcing the encounters into [More…]the two-page Delve format has kept the combat encounters short and focused, while the roleplaying and skill encounters have had room to breathe.
Combine all this with a full set of maps, literally dozens of new monsters from black fey to spriggans to new trolls and bugbear hunters, and you’ve got a great 4th Edition D&D adventure. There’s even room for the 4th Edition centaurs (from KQ#7) to take some shots at the PCs, as well as eladrin knights, vile gnomes, and river godlings. Ok, we went a little nuts with all the new monsters, but why not? Wrath is the first full-bore feywild wilderness adventure for 4th Edition D&D.
So if you are tired of the dungeon crawls, and ready to meet some nasty, cruel, and deadly fey, sign up to reserve your copy now! As a limited edition, it won’t be available long.
