Description
Like many bearfolk cubs, Ambassador Teppen’s middle cub Khemma has a powerful urge to explore her new surroundings, often wandering for two or three days at a time. Things have gone awry, though, as the PCs are summoned to the Bjornrike embassy by the Grand Baron Dymytros Howlik vann Rottsten. He tasks them to search the countryside around the Arbonesse Heights Vineyard for the ambassador’s missing cub.
While searching the countryside, the PCs come across an injured foxin, a volcanic vent, and disappearing workers at a nearby vineyard. Something is clearly amiss in the Grand Duchy, but what exactly could explain all these seemingly unrelated events?
This first of a 3-part adventure for the 5th Edition of the world’s first RPG is meant for four 4th-level characters. The adventure continues in Warlock Lair 51: Casting the Longest Shadow, and concludes with Warlock Lair 62: The Food that Food Eats.
Designed by Benjamin L. Eastman, it features a new monster and a new magic item, with cartography by Dyson Logos and art by Phil Stone.

Fun adventure! A couple of good twists and some misdirection in there. Our group made it hard on themselves with some bad choices and lived to tell the tale. Easy prep for our DM, ran just over 4 hours for a table of 4 PCs.

This was a fantastic adventure. I reskinned it a bit to work with my campaign, but didn’t have to change any of the encounters to make it work. A character death at the end of this adventure changed the trajectory of our campaign.
