These books are okay, but fail to be great.

One of the core problems is that it is six books.

This is good in that many of the books have a logical break-down. I know I have a book about factions for developing the factions for a game, Encounters get their own book, and the subject matter in each book is focused on that topic. Yet, this also means there is no index, table-of-contents, or any other way to find the one rule you suddenly remember. The pdfs have no other features you might expect.

This also means that nothing is concise. Book one introduces the contents of the series, but each book still gets its own intro. This means you get a list of actions that the party can take in book I, but the cost of those actions occurs several books layer where they are listed again, this time with costs. This sort of redundancy is present throughout the series.

In the end, it does contain good rules for planning and running a hex-crawl. It just arranges that information poorly. This book would have been better published as a single edition with indexing and greater editing for redundancy, but the actual rules and ideas presented within it are pretty solid.
