Description

Having solved the mystery of slaughtered livestock in Belcassel and ended the threat posed by the mutated beasts of Belcassel House in Fowl Play (Warlock Lair 33), the PCs follow Yvette’s trail northwest toward Maillon. On their way, they hear news of travelers being attacked by unnatural animal hybrids and of a young woman traveling alone with a small, deformed child wearing ill-fitting robes.

After a few days travel, and perhaps a chance encounter or two with obviously-magical beasts, the PCs are set upon by a pack of savage rodents. Things quickly take a turn for the fantastical!

This adventure for the 5th Edition of the world’s first RPG is meant for four 2nd-level characters. Designed by Kelly Pawlik, it features cartography by Dyson Logos and art by Phil Stone.

I ran this for eight kids between ages 8 and 15 recently – 3 girls and 5 boys. About half of them had good experience playing 5E, the rest played for the first time. It was a hit. I increased the number of monsters in some of the encounters to account for the greater number of players. Still the 100 lb (her character’s weight) female human barbarian got knocked out and then once healed got up and cut both heads off of a death dog! In short, this is a great intro adventure IMO with good flavor and variety for kids. I hope to lead them through all three parts eventually.
