Kobold Press Welcomes Brian Suskind to the Warrens

Sound the horns! Light the Grail-Shaped Beacons! What was familiar is reborn anew. From the Warrens comes exciting news! Starting Monday, September 30, I am leaping eagerly into the role of full-time Game Designer at Kobold Press.

Hello there! I am Brian Suskind and I am extremely excited to take on my new role in the Warrens. I’ve been a freelance game designer for over 16 years. Along the way I’ve won two ENNIE awards and published over eighty books. Aside from Kobold Press, my work has appeared on projects from such companies as Beadle & Grimm, Steamforged Games, Legendary Games, Zombie Sky Press, and Storm Bunny Studios. Most recently, I was the co-lead game designer for Draco Studios.

You might have seen my name scrawled in the Warrens from time to time, even on this very blog. Way back, I learned the craft from Wolfgang in the heady days of the Open Design project. Since the gates of Kobold Press opened, I’ve been a part of almost all of the Kobold books, including Midgard Worldbook, Campaign Builder: Cities & Towns, Southlands Campaign Setting, Campaign Builder: Castles & Crowns, Wastes of Chaos, Vault of Magic, Tome of Heroes, Creature Codex, every Tome of Beasts, Empire of the Ghouls, and many, many others.

When I’m not lost in some fantasy world, I am also a professional screenwriter with almost 30 years in the film business. I graduated UCLA’s Professional Screenwriting program, and learned the craft under the wing of James V Hart (Hook, Contact, Dracula, Tuck Everlasting). I’ve worked on production/development, and written numerous screenplays for television, cable, and film companies including TNT and the Baldwin Entertainment group. I also produced the web-series Six Feet Down Under and wrote, produced, and (somewhat reluctantly) starred in the YouTube series, Heroes with Issues.

From the beginning, however, I’ve wanted to be a kobold.

I feel proud and honored to be given the chance to join a company that I love and to work side by side with the amazing Kobold crew. This company is the best in the business and I pledge to continue the quest to bring you amazing games, thrilling adventures, and gaming memories for years to come.

Oh, right. Also mimics. Lots and lots of mimics.
